Racial Profiling - Despised, Forbidden, Alive and well in Advertising

So, I was reading the news and every week or so I see something new about racial profiling.  He was a black man so we searched him for drugs or he was Mexican so we were checked his immigration status.  Now in a blanket form this is wrong and unfair to those prosecuted.  Perhaps there were other factors I am not aware of, but this just isn't right yet racial profiling and in fact profiling of every nature is the accepted norm for advertising.  Don't believe me?  Take a look at any magazine and the ads that are enclosed.  Take a look at this ad...

This is targeted at middle class white parents who fear seeing their children die.  This is not targeted at a diverse group.  Even if the text supports that theory they image is what will make the reader look at the text.  This is a single ad targeted at one demographic or group.  Here is another one...

Who do you think this one is targeted at?  The same group we saw in the previous ad.  Is it racial profiling to target one group based on race?  Yes, take a look at Wikipedia's entry on it here.  Here is another to view:

Young and middle aged white women who are concerned about their teeth are the target for this.  To quote Wikipedia:

"Racial profiling is the inclusion of racial or ethnic characteristics in determining whether a person is considered likely to commit a particular type of crime or an illegal act or to behave in a "predictable" manner."  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_profiling

And while most view racial profiling as a criminal tactic to target groups advertising does this regularly by targeting a specific racial or ethnic group that behaves in a predictable manner.  The next time you pick up a magazine or newspaper take a close look at every ad in there and let me know what you see.
