A Strange Trip Through Commercial Websites

Once of my more popular blog entries has been my mycokerewards.com blog post.  With that in mind I thought I would scour the web looking for a good site to look at in a similar fashion.  Much to my surprise I didn't find any one site that had such a bizarre mix of imagery.  So instead I have grabbed a few interesting snippets to share with my reading audience.

1.  Walmart.com

First on the menu is Walmart.com, some love it and some hate it.  What cannot be denied is their sites oddities.

Somewhere between my time in college and today, it became normal for kids to take TVs.  And not just TVs but big expensive flat panels.  When I went I did have a TV, just a little B&W that I had picked up at a garage sale.  No big flat panel and no $238 TV for me!  I think that $238 would be better spent on the textbooks.

So this gem is from the site's Connect & Share section.  I only have two comments.  What does a dog's haircut have to do with Walmart?  And, why are the kid-friendly video games going into her ear?

2.  K-Mart

Who out there remembers the classic "Blue Light Special"?  Well guess what?!?!  It is now a mascot for them!

And yes, that is one of the most horrific mascots I have ever seen.

3.  Trader Joe's

They deserve an honorable mention for this awesome gem.  But is the thought of just leaving the monkey on your head bad enough to warrant signing up for an enewsletter? 

4.  Why have mirror names become popular?  For some reason a reflection is now hip.

As I browsed from site to site I began to see a trend forming.  Take a look at these...

This one is especially confusing for someone who is a bit dyslexic.  Then I saw 7-11 had joined in the game...

Even YouTube did it at one point.

I know I saw more out there.  I will add them if I remember.
